"Children of war - talking pictures"

This project was created as a means of psychological art therapy for children who became victims of war.

The project gives children the opportunity to express their feelings and emotions through creativity, which, in turn, helps to form the child’s individuality and strengthen the sense of self in society, in wartime!

This initiative was born in the spring of 2022, when Ukrainian families and their children were hiding in bomb shelters during an active attack on the city and aerial bombardment. The children were very scared, they were afraid of explosions and constant shelling, and it was drawing that allowed them to express their emotions on paper and let them out.

What we see is not just children’s drawings, it is an expression of the psycho-emotional state of children through the creativity of the terrible situation in which they were, which still continues in Kharkiv and in Ukraine as a whole.

Our foundation has a developed network with outstanding publications, museums and galleries of Europe, mass media, as well as cultural and historical institutions, artists who support and spread our mission.

Our goal is to convey to the European community and the whole world the complex history and courage of the Ukrainian people, and especially the children who were caught in these extremely difficult conditions. The drawings presented at our exhibitions have become a kind of witnesses of events and tell the stories of children who, despite fear and difficulties, managed to preserve their inner dignity and hope for a bright future through art

How this project helps children:

This project gives our future generation the opportunity to develop personality in any conditions.

1

A sense of recognition

Exhibitions and events of public creativity give children the opportunity to feel that their efforts and creativity are valued and recognized by others. This increases their motivation for further development

2

Social contact

Participation in social activities helps children establish new social connections and find similar destinies. It can be a source of support and inspiration

3

Self-expression

The opportunity to demonstrate their creativity in front of others gives children inner satisfaction and a sense of achievement, which motivates them to further creative activities

4

The search for meaning

Exhibitions can help children find meaning in their own creative process and creation, which is an important point in motivation for development.

5

Overcoming difficulties

Participation in such activities can be an excellent means for children to overcome traumatic experiences and restore faith in their abilities.
Therefore, public exhibitions and events for children create a favorable environment for their development, inspiring them and providing motivation for creativity and psychological recovery

Initiator and curator of the project

Yuliya Rybinska – cultural director of the foundation, with the support of our European partners, opens and presents these exhibitions in various European countries. Cultural figures from different countries came to our aid. Together with them, we were able to open exhibitions of children’s drawings, and we continue to hold such public events around the world.

Involvement of Ukrainian children in participating in exhibitions, the process of creation and drawing, became for them an emotional release and helped to focus their attention on creativity and distract from the realities of war.
The extraordinary dedication of our partners and Yulia Rybinska to their work and art helped make this project especially valuable and influential. Exhibitions were held in German cities: 4 in Berlin, then Inglheim, Bensheim, in Poland: two exhibitions in Krakow and one in Zakopane.

Our joint work with cultural figures who cooperate in the implementation of the project contributes to the development of the future of Ukraine. Together, we make it possible for the world to understand what pain and grief the hearts of Ukrainians are filled with, and how they fight for their freedom through art. And the support of the world community motivates us not to give up and move forward! Our joint work helps to raise awareness of the problems and needs of the Ukrainian people, and helps to overcome the difficulties they have faced. Together we change the world for the better, making every action meaningful and important.
